Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Falo is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app operated by Rômulo Amaral ("we"). This policy explains what happens to data when you use the app.
What we collect and why
- Scene photos. When you take or choose a photo to create a board, a downscaled version of the image is sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI (our AI provider) to identify words related to the scene. The image is not stored on our servers: it is processed in memory and discarded. For up to 24 hours we keep only a technical fingerprint (hash) of the image and the generated word list, to avoid reprocessing. OpenAI may retain API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, per their policy.
- Data on your device (never sent anywhere): saved board thumbnails, the photo used on the "I" tile, cached pictograms for offline use, and your name and preferences. Speech is generated on the device itself.
What we do NOT do
- No accounts and no identifying data collection.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking.
- No selling or sharing data with third parties beyond the AI processing described above.
Children
Falo is a tool operated by a caregiver or by the user themselves. The "I" tile photo stays exclusively on the device. We recommend that photos used to create boards show scenes and objects, not faces.
Your rights (GDPR/LGPD)
Since we keep no personal data on servers, there is nothing to delete on our side: deleting the app removes all local data. Questions: contact@faloaac.com.
